6/ Couple autonomous logistics with ChatGPT on the front end and you could really throw gas on the e-commerce bonfire. Except in this case its all electric🔋and might have less packaging.

2/ Since then, I've updated that work and estimated the market potential of both meal and parcel delivery. All in all, I think this could be a $1-2T market.

3/ In reality, drones should have many many use cases. I chose these two markets because they might have the largest potential in terms of volume and dollars, but drones could be used for imaging, inspection, and delivery of medical supplies much like @zipline does now.

5/ And similar to autonomous cars, its already happening! Zipline has flown over 40 million miles autonomously. That's probably pretty valuable data to show to regulators to say "hey! this works!"

4/ That's why recent announcements from @zipline and @wing are so exciting - we're seeing more of the details around how last mile drone package delivery in the US could unfold.

1/ Drone delivery is having a moment. In 2015, I estimated that Amazon could deliver a package in less than 30 minutes for <$1.

I adjust the accident rates to their surface street equivalent using these ratios of %miles and %of accidents for surface streets. TL;DR: Tesla's first report on its FSD safety rate suggests that using FSD is 5X safer than not using it (🤖>🧠). 10/10

Manually driven or "Non AP" Tesla miles have a slightly higher ratio of surface street miles, adjusting for ~10% of all fleet miles that occur in Autopilot (9B in AP out of ~90B cumulative miles on cars with AP). Note I used a global stat, which is likely higher in the US. 9/10

How'd I calculate this? 73% of vehicle miles travelled are on highways, while only 25% of accidents are on highways. The highway-only accident rate is 1.4 million miles per crash, vs. 170k miles per crash for surface streets. 8/10
