tired of AI? start listening to Energy & Utility earnings calls. Only place can hear corp execs drone, but not mention AI.

5/ if Brex continues strong growth and gets to reasonable levels of profitability they will command a multiple premium relative to slower growing public comps...so they could be back in that territory in 2 years or less...

4/ fwiw, private markets seem to be willing to support a 10x+ revenue multiple for this level of growth. saw some data showing Brex trading at around $6B* *take this with a pile of salt. private market data not nearly as reliable as public.

6/ again this is illustrative and by no means exact but hopefully helpful for folks to think thru what it looks like for one of the top fintech companies to grow back into their previous high watermark valuation.

2/ They probably need to get to $2B+ in revenue to get back to a $12B valuation, which will take ~4 years at current growth rates. Why? The public comps: B2B payments - 3.7x Corporate payments - 5.8x 6x * $2B revenue => $12B mkt cap.

3/ this is very rough math. A lot hangs on (1) growth rates (2) perceived quality of revenue, ie what is the gross margin profile and durability of revenue (3) ability to get profitable, but is a reasonable starting point.

1/ What does it look like for a company to grow back into their valuation? Well, Brex last raised at $12B valuation + just disclosed they are doing: $500M in run rate revenue growing 50% YoY.
