🌍 Critical minerals stocks now worth more than gold @pgker @Tim_ber_wolf
“That basket of 33 major ASX-listed, critical mineral stocks is now more valuable than the 25 on S&P/ASX All Ordinaries Gold Index… $86.1 billion on Tuesday.”

We are in the midst of a global battery arms race but the US is no longer a bystander.
Mining and refining of critical minerals are now the greatest challenge.
Permitting is the biggest blocker.
#GigaUSA @benchmarkmin
As a result huge downstream value is created
China 🇨🇳:
= 80% of the worlds batteries
= 80% of cathode
=90% of anode
= 63% lithium chemicals / 17% mined supply
=78% of cobalt chemicals
= 61% flake graphite
And produced more EVs than the rest of the world combined.
China’s forward thinking and aggressive industrial strategy has put 10x ahead of the USA and Europe in batteries.
And has ensured the flow of key raw materials is towards China.
Battery makers, OEMs, and indeed countries need joined up thinking for this.
If you are downstream you need to think like a mineral and chemical producer.
Lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite, manganese, rare earths, phosphate and fluorspar. Mastering these supply chains to various degrees will make or break a countries industrial direction.
Lithium ion batteries are the industrial pillar of this century and the centre point of the energy transition.
The critical mineral supply chains that fuel them are as geopolitically important as the oil pipelines of today.

I always have to take a moment to pause and realise how important our critical minerals industry has become.
The geopolitics, industrial and technological tailwinds all now move in the same direction: From East to West.

US battery cell 10-year pipeline overtakes Europe capacity (majority European Union) for the first time as it surges toward 1200GWh
No wonder the EU were really worried about losing investment…
The #DebtCeilingAgreement might not stave off a general recession but the critical minerals space won’t have a better opportunity to access tens of billions of dollars still available to build mines, refining plants, and battery plants in the USA or FTA countries.
